Banana Cake

Cakes were laid on the altar of Zeus Polieus and oxen driven round; the one which touched the cakes was the victim.

Please find the following Banana Cake recipe.

Ingredients:

Butter or margarine, softened                                                          1/2 cup          125 ml

Granulated sugar                                                                              1 1/2 cups       350 ml

Eggs                                                                                                  2                     2

Vanilla                                                                                               1 tsp.              5 ml

Mashed Banana                                                                                 1 cup              225 ml 

Buttermilk or sour milk                                                                     1/3 cup          75 ml

All-purpose flour                                                                               2 cups            450 ml

Baking powder                                                                                  1 tsp.              5 ml

Baking soda                                                                                       1 tsp               5 ml

Salt                                                                                                     1/2 tsp.          2 ml

Method:

Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Cream butter and sugar along.

Beat in eggs 1 at a time.

Add Vanilla.

Mix banana with butter milk.

Sift flour,baking powder,baking soda and salt along.Add to butter mixture in 3 components alternately with banana mixture in two components, begining and ending with flour.Spread in two lubricated round 8 in. (20 cm) layer pans. Bake in oven for twenty five to thirty five minutes or till an inserted wood choose comes out clean.
